ICC to make this massive change amid political unrest in Bangladesh

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering moving the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 from Bangladesh because of the current unrest in the country. The competition is planned to take place in Bangladesh from October 3 to October 20.

The ninth edition of the tournament is set to be played at two locations: Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. But with only three months left before the event, the right to host the tournament in Bangladesh is at risk due to significant civil unrest in the country.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has said they are watching the situation in the country very carefully and are talking to their security teams. The ICC also mentioned that keeping everyone involved in the tournament safe and well is their main concern.

“The ICC is working closely with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security teams, and our own independent security experts to keep an eye on what’s happening. Our top priority is making sure everyone involved is safe and well,” the ICC stated.

Political unrest in Bangladesh:

Recently, there have been big protests in Bangladesh where students are upset about a special rule for getting government jobs. But things got really bad, with more than 300 people dying in the trouble. The leader, Sheikh Hasina, quit her job and went to Delhi with her sister.

Things are getting worse in Bangladesh. A big group of people went into Hasina’s home, Ganabhaban, and took TVs, chairs, and tables while shouting. Some people were happy that Hasina’s government was gone and were shouting too. Because the situation might get even worse, the ICC might make a big choice soon and could decide not to have the event in Bangladesh and look for another place instead.

Right now, Australia is really good at a short version of cricket called T20 and has won the last three times. They won the last one in South Africa by beating the home team by 19 runs in the final game.
