ICC Rankings: Shubman Gill Becomes No.1 Batter While Siraj The Top Bowler In ODIs

Shubman Gill has surpassed Babar Azam to become the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world, while Mohammed Siraj has regained the No.1 position among ODI bowlers in the most recent ICC rankings, which were unveiled on November 8th, Wednesday.

Shubman Gill currently holds 830 rating points, and with that, he has moved to the No.1 spot, while Babar Azam has dropped to No.2 with 824 points in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Gill also achieved the distinction of becoming the second-fastest player to reach the No.1 ranking in 41 innings, with MS Dhoni retaining the record as the fastest, having achieved it in just 38 innings.

Shubman Gill is currently the leading run-scorer in ODIs and international cricket for the year. Furthermore, he is approaching the milestone of 2000 runs in a calendar year, which would make him the first batsman to achieve this feat.

Shubman Gill has been the top run-scorer in ODIs in 2023, but his performance in the ongoing World Cup has not been as strong. Gill has managed to score two half-centuries, one of which was 92 against Sri Lanka. It’s worth noting that he missed India’s first two matches in the tournament due to dengue.
