As per Geo News, the sources informed that The International Cricket Council (ICC) was pleased with the comprehensive presentation of the arrangements made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials for next year’s Champions Trophy. These explained the preparations in an ICC above the line meeting on Monday where PCB highest official Mohsin Naqvi attended. As per Geo News sources, tournament ready height of the PCB officials’ pledged to ICC board was the up gradation of the three stadiums that will be utilized during the event window and shall be finished in time.
Moreover, Naqvi has extended a ‘free all members’ invitation to the ICC board to visit Pakistan and also see the work done with regard to the tournament. The Players champion Trophy will take place again next year in the country of Pakistan, but it has its drawbacks
India’s participation in the mid-event nationals remains a big question. Will India go to Pakistan for the mega event remains clouded with lots of uncertainty. Since the 2008 Asia Cup, strained interactions regarding terrorism between the two nations have halted India from participating in any cricketing events within Pakistan.
The last bilateral series between the two neighbors was played from December 2012 to January 2013 in India. It was performed across the globe with the only exception for the countries Sri Lanka and Bangladesh that hosted the Asia Cup. Such tournaments have not featured both sides since, apart from ICC events and the Asia Cup. Pakistan however, toured India 3 times after the 2008 India Asia cup.
Lately, speculation was rekindled regarding three potential scenarios being considered by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the staging of the Champions Trophy.
The ICC, according to insiders, either wishes for the tournament to physically proceed in Pakistan as scheduled or to be held as a hybrid event in Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Based on this hybrid model, the matches for India and the knockout stage will be held in Dubai. The third possibility is that the whole tournament will be hosted outside of Pakistan, most probably Dubai or Sri Lanka or South Africa.
Apart from the 1996 ODI World Cup, which Pakistan co-hosted with India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan has not hosted any major events of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since.
