“I warned him if…”Harbhajan Singh makes a bold revelation about his chat with Virat Kohli.

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli is now considered the best among the current group of players. He has taken over from the famous Sachin Tendulkar and has done a great job representing Indian cricket.

Some people wonder how Kohli became so successful. Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian spin bowler and Kohli’s teammate, remembers two moments from Kohli’s early career that showed he was meant for greatness.

In a podcast called Find a Way with Taruwar Kohli, Harbhajan Singh talked about a time when he saw how Virat Kohli approaches his game. During a series in Sri Lanka, the Indian players were having trouble with the spin bowler Ajantha Mendis. However, Kohli wasn’t afraid and managed to score a strong 50 runs, but he felt it wasn’t enough.

Harbhajan Singh recalled, “I remember when he first joined the team. I think Sehwag was hurt, and the other batters were all out because of Mendis. Virat Kohli came in, a young player full of energy, and played against Mendis, scoring 54 runs in a One-Day match.”

He continued, “He asked me how he did, and I said he played well. But he thought he should have hit the ball harder. I really liked that attitude.”

The ex-Indian spin bowler remembered another situation where he had high hopes for a young Virat Kohli. Kohli was not playing very well at the time and seemed to have trouble with his self-confidence. However, the experienced player was so sure about Kohli’s talent that he said it would be a big letdown if Kohli didn’t score more than 10,000 runs in the longest form of the game.

The player with the third-most wickets in India’s history said, “When he was just beginning in Test cricket, we were in the West Indies and the fast-bowler, Fidel Edwards, kept getting him out with a ball hitting his pad or a short delivery. He was upset in Barbados and started to wonder if he was good enough.”

“I warned him that if he didn’t reach 10,000 runs, it would be embarrassing for him. He has so much potential that reaching 10,000 runs in Test matches is possible, and if he doesn’t achieve it, it’s his responsibility. After that, Virat Kohli has put in triple the effort, focusing on his body, mind, and how he plays the game,” Bhajji expressed his hopes.

What comes next is already part of the record books. Kohli keeps performing when his team needs him most. As he consistently delivers outstanding performances, it’s just a matter of time before he stands at the pinnacle of cricket and considers himself the best.”
