On Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India unveiled the rules for IPL auction. Each franchise can retain up to 6 players with the Right To Match (RTM) option included in it. As the teams have started finalizing their picks ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, former India pacer RP Singh has passed a huge verdict on the franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He said that the side will keep only Virat Kohli and release all the rest of them based on the RTM that has been given. Noticeably, Kohli has been with RCB ever since the first IPL season.
Kohli is the all-time frontrunner in IPL leagues averages, playing 252 matches and scoring 8004 runs. In the tournament so far, he has managed to score 8 hundred which is more than any better in the history of the tournament and 55 fifties.
“I personally don’t think they have any issues. They will only keep Virat Kohli and let go of the rest and utilize RTM,” said RP Singh while he was speaking with Colors Cineplex.
Since the strategies focused on teams retain screen and imbedding RTM exclude one, there can only be six retentions by the franchises ipso adjusting the Map. Nevertheless, the 6 retentions/RTM’s can have an upper cap on 5 players with cap (Indian and foreign) and 2 players with no cap for the sake of the announcement made by BCCI.

“If we see the value of taking Rajat Patidar as an example, will we get him for more or less than 11 crores during the auction? I feel you will get Rajat Patidar for less. So you get him back in the auction. Even if he comes very close to 11 crores, you have the RTM that you can apply there,” he stated.
“Siraj, in terms of performance, you will need to assess once more whether you should get him in the region of 11 crores. As for Siraj, I do not believe he will come close to 14 crores. They will always have the option that if he reaches there, you can use the RTM,” he said further.
