With the Pat Cummins-led team losing to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Sunday final, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL 2024 campaign came to a heartbreaking conclusion. With two over-250 scores during the season, SRH delighted cricket enthusiasts and analysts alike with their explosive style of play. They were bowled out for just 113, so Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, who opened the innings, had a bad day.
As a result, Venkatesh Iyer struck a spectacular half-century, and KKR easily pursued the goal. SRH owner Kavya Maran gave an impassioned message to the players and support staff following the game, clearly saddened and unable to contain her tears.
“We are all incredibly proud of you all. I had to tell you that right here. We play T20 cricket differently now that you changed it, and we’re the talk of the town. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team posted a video of Maran on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. “The off day had to happen today, but really, great job by all of you with the bat and the ball,” Maran remarked.
“Despite the fact that we ended in last place the previous year, I believe that the reason so many supporters showed up this time was the potential you guys had. Everybody is chatting about us. Everyone will still be talking about the way we played cricket, even if KKR wins. It wasn’t just any other game; we were playing the finals. After all, every other team was observing us today. Thus, I really appreciate that,” she continued.
When play began, Andre Russell claimed three wickets, Harshit Rana claimed two, and Mitchell Starc claimed two. SRH was eventually dismissed for 113, and KKR emerged victorious in the IPL 2024 final by eight wickets.
