Mitchell Starc, Australia’s mainstay is looking forward to his battle with India’s stalwart Virat Kohli in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India has faced Starc for 19 innings, dominating him with an average of 59.00. In the Test format, the seasoned Indian batter has managed to score a total of 291 runs against Starc’s fiery pace. On the contrary, Starc has been able to show Kohli the route to the pavilion only four times. Ahead of the upcoming BGT match, Mitchell admitted he enjoys competing against Kohli and that the latter has outperformed him in their past encounters.
“I enjoy my battles with Virat Kohli because we have played so much cricket together. I remember having some great contests over time. There’ve been one or two occasions when I dismissed him but otherwise he has amassed quite a large number of runs against me so it’s always a quality contest; one that both of us like”, said Starc while speaking to Star Sports.
However, Kohli’s duel with Starc on Australian turf will not be the only exciting match that will unfold on this field.
In a recent remark, Glenn Maxwell, an all-rounder, has mentioned that Kohli versus Smith would be a truly interesting encounter.
“In terms of two great batsmen clashing then, it’s really those two: Steve Smith and Virat Kohli. They have dominated the series but their impact on who will hold the Border Gavaskar will play out in this contest if we had to look at it head-to-head-wise. One might get very high scores while both of them do; it will be quite thrilling watching these wonderful characters from our days share one pitch” said Maxwell whenever talking to Star Sports.
Starting from November 22nd, 2019 there shall be four matches between these countries called the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia’s Perth where the first Test match would be played.
