“I don’t want to be known as….”Ashutosh Sharma powerful words after his breathtaking innings against Mumbai Indians

Ashutosh Sharma is currently going through a purple patch in the ongoing IPL season.
Punjab’s top order has failed to fire this season, yet players like Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh are emerging as heroes for their side. In the ongoing IPL season, Ashutosh Sharma has so far scored 156 runs at an impressive strike rate of 205.

He played a blinder against the Mumbai Indians, scoring 61 of just 28 deliveries after his side was struggling on 14/4.
However, he could not convert his innings into a match-winning knock, but he has surely made a mark to look forward to in the future.

After the match, Ashutosh Sharma revealed that he doesn’t want to be known as a slogger. He also revealed the chat he had with PBKS batting coach Sanjay Bangar before the match.

Ashutosh Sharma said, “Sanjay sir told me ‘you are not a slogger; you can play proper cricketing shots and focus on it’. That small statement has made a huge impact. I have been following that only. I am not a hard-hitter. I play proper cricket shots. That has changed my game. Back home, I was working with my coach, Amit Khurasia. He also told me that the longer I stay in the middle, the greater the chances of my team winning. Yes, I have missed getting the job done in two games. But this is cricket. You have to keep working on your game.” 

In his innings, Ashutosh Sharma smashed seven sixes; however, his sweep shot against Jasprit Bumrah, which went for a six, was the highlight of his innings. This shot of Ashutosh Sharma even earned him praise from India’s bowling maestro, Zaheer Khan.

Speaking about the same, Ashutosh Sharma said, “It was my dream to sweep Bumrah. I kept practicing for it. But it came against the world’s best bowler. It’s okay. It’s part of the game.”

Ashutosh Sharma also thanked Batting Coach Sanjay Bangar,Head Coach Bayliss, and skipper Shikhar Dhawan for showing confidence in him.

Ashutosh also spoke about the celebration that he had after scoring his maiden half century in the IPL.

Ashutosh Sharma said, “The celebration was for Sanjay Bangar, sir. I am working hard with him. He gave me a chance and kept believing in me. Our head coach, Trevor Bayliss, Shikhar Dhawan, everybody believed me, so it was for them.”.
