‘I don’t need a BCCI role as a selector, coach, or IPL mentor role’, Says Aakash Chopra

On one hand, the Indian Team is performing brilliantly against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar trophy. They have already secured two games with two more to go. However, apart from this performance of the team, KL Rahul is another big topic that is crawling into the mouths of former cricketers and other experts.

Significantly, he has now been removed from the vice-captaincy for the final two Test matches and will probably not participate in these two games.

Even former cricketers are voicing their opinions about Rahul’s performances. Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener, thinks Rahul has been given all of his opportunities. He also expressed his displeasure with Rohit Sharma, the captain, and coach Rahul Dravid for supporting Rahul.

Chopra and Venkatesh Prasad, the former Indian bowler, had a Twitter argument about Rahul’s future in the Test team. Chopra provided the screenshot of KL Rahul’s stats in Test Cricket since 2020 and his 38.64 is the third-best among all Indian batters in SENA countries.

“Indian batters in SENA countries. Maybe, this is the reason selectors/coaches/captains are backing KLR. He’s played 2 Tests at home (ongoing BGT) during this period,” Chopra wrote on Twitter.

The former opener further stated that he is not interested in being a team mentor for an IPL team or serving as a selector or coach for the BCCI.

“No, I don’t need a BCCI role as a selector/coach. I don’t need any mentor, or coaching role at any IPL team either,” he added.
