Virat Kohli is going through poor run of form and thus opted for rest. Every cricket fan is eyeing on his comeback match, and it was speculated that, King Kohli will return on cricket field from Zimbabwe series but, he has opted for rest from that also. As, T20 World Cup is not too far away after Zimbabwe series, it is almost confirmed that, he will return to Indian colours from Asia Cup which is set to start form 27th of August.
In recently concluded West Indines series, Indian team management has experimented a lot with their batting positions specially with their openers and all cricket pundits are still not sure about who will bat where. Among all the experiments, still there is no surety about Kohli’s position. During England series it was almost clear that, Kohli will bat at number 3 but during West Indies series there were lot of experiments happened on each batting slot and it has arises may questions on different batting positions?
During England series, Rishabh Pant was tested as opener and everyone was hoping that, he will open the inning in recently concluded West Indies series but captain Rohit Sharma had different plans and this time we had witnessed another new opening pair in form of Suryakumar Yadav and captain Rohit Sharma. Every slot is wide open because of these experiments and selection process is going to be tensed during Asia Cup as their regular opener KL Rahul and regular number 3 batter Virat Kohli are set to make a comeback.
Above these tensed situations, former Indian wicket keeper Parthiv Patel has its own say on batting Indian batting position. According to Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli will open the inning for men in blues during Asia Cup. Pathiv firmly said, “I’m sticking to my word. I think Virat Kohli will open in Asia Cup. I just feel he will”, he further added, “For Virat Kohli, opening is the best slot to get his form back and, if he will do, it will be best for everyone”. If this will happen then what about new opener Surya Kumar Yadav and above all if KL Rahul will be declared fit then where he will be slotted in this batting lineup.
It seems that just before the T20 World Cup no one is sure about their batting position except captain Rohit Sharma, not even King Kohli is assured about his position. Let’s hope that these unwanted experiment do not haunt India during World Cup.
