Huge Blow For Gujarat Titans, Star Batter Ruled Out Of IPL 2024

The Gujarat Titans will miss the services of Australian captain Matthew Wade in the early matches of IPL 2024. Wade has opted to participate in the Sheffield Shield final for Tasmania, a commitment arising from his team’s confirmed spot in the final and their potential to host the title-deciding match.

Tasmania is aiming for their first Sheffield Shield title since the 2012-13 season, and Matthew Wade is eager to secure his inaugural Shield title with the team. Despite the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman having won four Shield titles during his decade-long tenure with Victoria, this potential triumph with Tasmania holds special significance.

Despite playing in two finals for Tasmania and facing defeat on both occasions, Matthew Wade remains hopeful as he prepares for another chance. The Australian cricketer is optimistic that the third attempt will lead to success, providing him the opportunity to lift the coveted trophy with the Tasmania side.

Tasmania head coach Jeff Vaughan said, “He’s spoken with his IPL franchise and they’re happy to allow him to stay here, which probably equates to him potentially missing their first game.”

“We feel very fortunate to have someone of Matt’s ilk coming back into our group, and his experience and his performances at the back end of our season.”
