How Close is Ravichandran Ashwin to Breaking Anil Kumble’s Record?

India and England are up against one another for the fourth time in the series, as both teams are currently involved in a fierce battle in Ranchi.

However, the fourth test match of the series can be a memorable test match for India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, as he is on the verge of breaking another international record.

Ashwin is once again on the verge of breaking the record of team India’s greatest match winner, Anil Kumble, as he needs only two wickets to surpass Kumble to become India’s leading wicket-taker in test cricket on home soil.

Ashwin recently became the second Indian bowler after Kumble to pick up 500 test wickets for India. He achieved this remarkable feat in Rajkot.
With India’s goal to clinch the series in the fourth test itself, Ashwin would love to go past Kumble in this wicket tally.

Most wickets for India in home Tests
Anil Kumble, 350
R. Ashwin, 348*
Harbhajan Singh, 265
Kapil Dev: 219
Ravindra Jadeja, 206*

Team India is currently leading the series by a margin of 2-1, with the final test match of the series set to be played in Dharamshala on March 7.
