The upcoming edition of T20 World Cup 2024 is all set to happen in June. Meanwhile, the former Indian batter Suresh Raina has given a strong statement regarding the Indian left-handed all-rounder Shivam Dube.
Suresh Raina believes that if Shivam Dube performs well in the IPL 2024, he has the potential to be the Player of the Tournament in this year’s T20 World Cup.
Dube delivered an amazing all-round performance during India’s six-wicket victory in the initial T20I against Afghanistan in Mohali on January 11. He secured figures of 1/9 in two overs and played an unbeaten innings of 60 runs off 40 deliveries as the Indian team successfully pursued a target of 159 runs. India secured the win with six wickets in hand.
Speaking to the media, Suresh Raina said, “A lot of eyes will be on Shivam Dube in this IPL about how MS Dhoni uses him in Chennai. If he does well in the two months of the IPL, don’t be surprised if he is the Man of the Tournament in the World Cup.”
The ex-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player suggests that MS Dhoni could be inclined to utilize the all-rounder Shivam Dube as a bowler in the upcoming IPL 2024.
He said, “Since he is bowling, the captain could get a thought whether he can bowl two overs or if he can be used as a floater. He can bat anywhere from No. 4 to No. 7. When the matches will be played on the Caribbean or American wickets, he has a good slower one as well.”
