‘He Is Very Good Batsman, But…’, Virender Sehwag Speaks On His Comparison With This Youngster

The former Indian batter Virender Sehwag has praised the young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal but emphasized that it is very early to draw comparisons between Jaiswal and some of the cricketing legends.

The 22-year-old cricketer has left a significant mark in Test cricket, achieving a remarkable debut with a score of 171 against the West Indies and then securing a double century in the recently concluded second Test against England. His exceptional performances have sparked comparisons with cricketing greats like Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sir Don Bradman.

While having a virtual interaction with PTI, Sehwag said, “He [Yashasvi Jaiswal] is a very good batsman but I think comparisons are too early.”

When inquired about the possibility of the upcoming IPL concluding in such proximity to the T20 World Cup causing burnout and player fatigue.

“I am confident that fatigue or burnout will not be a concern for players heading into the T20 World Cup. On the contrary, I feel that tournaments like IPL or ILT20 will prove instrumental in preparing teams for the global event. In IPL, one has to play 14 matches over two months, so there is ample time to maintain form and fitness and fine-tune skills ahead of the T20 World Cup.”
