‘He Is Mini Rohit Sharma’, Ramiz Raja Compared This Indian With Hitman

With an impressive eight-wicket victory over 2019 World Cup runners-up New Zealand on Saturday in Raipur, Team India won the series. Before India finished off the chase in just 20.1 overs, the bowlers had restricted New Zealand to just 108 runs.

Shubman Gill, who contributed to the 72-run opening stand with captain Rohit Sharma, finished the India’s chase undefeated on 40. Ramiz Raja, the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), compared Gill to Rohit Sharma after the game, drawing comparisons to Gill’s double hundred in the series’ first game against New Zealand.

On Wednesday, in the series opener in Hyderabad, Gill had scored a record-scripting 208 runs. He became the fifth India batter to score a double century in ODIs and the youngest ever to the feat as the hosts beat New Zealand by 12 runs.

Gill had scored a massive 208 runs on Wednesday in Hyderabad during the first game of the series. As the hosts defeated New Zealand by 12 runs, he became the youngest batsman in ODI history and the fifth Indian to make a double century.

Talking about the Gill centuries and performance with the bat, Ramiz Raja termed him as “Mini Rohit Sharma”. The former PCB chairman also added that Gill doesn’t need to do any change in his batting technique and he looks so promising while hitting the ball.

Speaking on his youtube channel,”Shubman Gill looks like a mini-Rohit Sharma. He has extra time and looks good. He has enough potential. Aggression will also develop with time. He doesn’t need to change anything. He scored a double hundred recently.”

Apart from Gill, Ramiz Raja also praised Rohit Sharma for his superb fifty against Kiwis in the second ODI.

“Batting was easy for India because they have an outstanding batter like Rohit Sharma. He plays exceedingly well. He is an amazing striker of hook-and-pull shots, so a 108-run chase becomes easy,” Raja added.
