Even though India has lost the two back to back games against West Indies in this five-match T20I series, the left-handed batter of Mumbai Indians Tilak Varma has impressed everyone. Meanwhile, the veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has recently praised Tilak Varma for his amazing batting skills.
Varma showcased his batting skills and gathered 90 runs in two matches with an impressive average of 45 and a remarkable strike rate of 142.85. His standout achievement occurred during the second T20I at Providence Stadium in Guyana, where he smashed a crucial 51 run, despite India’s close two-wicket defeat.
Ashwin primarily praised Varma’s mastery in executing the pull shot and drew comparisons with the Australian cricket players.
While talking to his youtube Channel, R Ashwin said,”They will find the answer later as they will have all the other shots. Pull shot is something they will develop. But his game looks like has a natural pull shot and sends the ball outside the boundary rope like an Australian.”
Ashwin also talked about the similarities in the batting skills of Tilak Varma and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.
He added,”The emergence of Tilak Varma has made everyone take notice of him. He looked in imperious touch even on that slow pitch in the first T20I. His batting style looked very unlike an Indian making his international debut. His game resembles a lot of Rohit Sharma.”

“Will they see him (Tilak Varma) as an option in the 50-over format? But he has made everyone take notice of him with that knock”, Ashwin commented.
