Currently, the Indian team is on a tour to New Zealand to play the three T20 match series against Kiwis under the young skipper, Hardik Pandya, starting from 18th November. Before the opening encounter young skipper, Hardik Pandya speaks about all-important questions regarding the New-Zealand series, the road map of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024, etc.
Question 1:- What do you think about New Zealand without Martin Guptil?
Answer:- Martin didn’t play the world cup still they were in the semis, and you all know New Zealand has been a fantastic side over the years, who have always come and put up a show and always challenge you as a team and be honest dropping him is there call but New Zealand is very fantastic side.
Question 2:- What are the subjective tactics you think New Zealand will come up in this series?
Answer:- The world cricket is evolving now, they are one who has always come up with a new plan in the bowling and batting unit and new tactics and it always works for them.
Question 3:- Are you enjoying here in New Zealand?
Answer:- Yeah I am enjoying it here, it’s been only one and half days here. Yesterday I was in a hotel but I am assuming the beauty I see it’s a must place to come. I had here in 2019.
Question 4:- What do you think about Finn Allen?
Answer:- He is a good player and he did well and what else I can say.
Question 5:- Following the T20 World Cup 2022, the loss was tough for you guys?
Answer:- Yes, we all know that there is disappointment in the T20 World Cup, but we are professionals. We need to cope with it, how we cope with our success and move forward, look to get better and rectify the mistakes we made.
Question 6:- Is the absence of a regular player a great opportunity for young guys in T20 cricket?
Answer :- Absolutely, the main boys are not here but we have enormous talent in our squad. But at the same point of time, the players who are already here, have been playing for India from one and a half years now they have enough time in international cricket to express themselves. I am very excited for them, new guys, new bunch, new energy, so it’s gonna be quite exciting.
Question 7:- Will Gujarat Titans put a bid on Kane Williamson in the IPL 2023?
Answer :- Don’t know, too far too think now.
Question 8:- Do you think Kane Williamson will be picked up in the IPL auction?
Answer :- For him, because he is a friend “yes” ,rest I don’t care sir, that’s IPL is IPL right now I am playing for India.
Question 9:- Michael Vaughan made a serious comment after semi-final defeat in World Cup, do you think that affect your team in New Zealand?
Answer :- Obviously when you don’t do well, people will have their opinion, which we respect. I understand people have different points of view. Being at the international level, I don’t think we need to prove anything to anyone. It’s a sport, you keep trying to get better and eventually when the result is supposed to happen it will happen. There are things we need to work on, going forward we will rectify and work on it.
Question 10:- What is the Indian team roadmap for next T20 World Cup?
Answer:- Yes, the next T20 WC is almost two years from here so we have time, till then. A lot of cricket will be played and a lot of people will get enough chances. The road map starts from now. But it’s too fresh right now. So Obviously, we have a lot of time so we will sit down and have conversations on those grounds. Right now, I am making sure that the boys enjoys playing here. Let them enjoy it, for now, we will talk about the future later.
Question 11:- How important this series is regarding the next year’s World Cup in India?
Answer 11:- Every series is important. You can’t play an international game thinking it is not important. Yes, World Cup is there but that’s a different format, it’s 50 overs. But as I said an important series for a lot of boys who if they eventually do well here will be able to put a strong case going forward.
