Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh replied to a fan’s complaint about the Hindi commentary during cricket matches. Harbhajan is currently part of the commentary team for IPL 2025. In a video that’s making the rounds online, the fan mentioned that Hindi commentary used to be more informative and is now too focused on jokes and poetry. Harbhajan took this feedback in stride, saying on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Thank you for the input. We will work on it.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a close win against Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high-scoring match on Tuesday. They defended a strong total of 243/5 and managed to hold Gujarat to 232/5, winning by 11 runs. Gujarat started well with openers Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill scoring 61 runs together. However, Glenn Maxwell gave Punjab a key wicket by getting Gill out for 33.
Sudharsan was on fire, scoring 74 runs off 41 balls, with five fours and six sixes, but he was dismissed by left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, leaving Gujarat at 145/2 in 12.3 overs. Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford then added 54 runs, keeping Gujarat in the game. Buttler made his half-century but was bowled by Marco Jansen for 54. Rahul Tewatia came and went quickly, getting run out after scoring only six.
With Gujarat still needing quick runs, Rutherford fought hard until the end, scoring 46 off 28 balls with four fours and three sixes, but Arshdeep dismissed him as Punjab neared victory. Arshdeep was the star bowler for Punjab, finishing with 2/36 in his four overs, while Jansen and Maxwell each took a wicket, helping Punjab secure their first win of the tournament.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Gujarat chose to bowl first. Punjab’s debutant, Priyansh Arya, got them off to a great start, helping the team reach 50 runs in just 4.3 overs. Arya scored a quick 47 off 23 balls before falling to Rashid Khan, leaving PBKS at 79/2. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai made an impact right away, hitting a six off Rashid’s first ball, but he didn’t last long and was out for 16 off 15 balls. Sai Kishore then struck twice in quick succession, trapping Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck.
Marcus Stoinis teamed up with Iyer, and they made a key 57-run partnership before Sai Kishore took Stoinis out for 20. Punjab crossed the 200-run mark in 17.4 overs, with Iyer and Shashank Singh pushing hard at the end. Their exciting 81-run partnership helped PBKS reach a massive total. Iyer remained unbeaten on 97 while Shashank scored 44 off just 16 balls, finishing the innings with a flurry against Mohammed Siraj.
For Gujarat, Sai Kishore stood out with three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada each took one. However, the GT bowlers had a tough time dealing with Punjab’s aggressive batting.
