Australia has announced a 16 member squad for the upcoming three match ODI series against India. Aussies are already in India for the four match series under Border-Gavaskar trophy where the team is trailing by 0-2 against the hosts, The first match of this ODI series will be played from 17th March.
For Australians, many big names are returning to the squad. All rounder Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh and Jhye Richardson will make it to the field after months. Maxwell broke his leg while having a party at his friend’s house and this series will be a perfect warm-up for Maxwell regarding the upcoming Indian Premier League Season.
Another star all-rounder from the team, Mitchell Marsh who was also suffering from Ankle Problem has returned to the squad and Jyhe Richardson who has also a hamstring injury is all ready to take a new ball.
The chairperson of Australian selection committee George Bailey said,”Glenn, Mitchell and Jhye are all important players in what we think the squad might look like come October.”
Captain Pat Cummins who returned to his home after the second Test, struggling star opener David Warner and Ashton Agar have also been named in the ODI Squad. However, Josh Hazelwood is not part of the Australian squad for the upcoming ODI series against India.
While talking on Josh Hazlewood, George Bailey said,”It would be great for Josh to be part of this series but we have taken a conservative view ahead of a very important winter in England of which he will be an integral part.”
He further said,”With the World Cup just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation.”
