Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill held forth on how emotions ride high through matches. After what many said was a controversial call against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill could be seen having animated conversations with the umpires about the review decision concerning his teammate, Abhishek Sharma, who was later seen calming him down. Gill earlier chatted with the fourth umpire after one of the run-outs, although footage did not make it entirely clear whether he was run out or not.
Gill commented during the post-match interaction that going at 110% creates very strong feelings. He also noted that the top three—himself, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler—have mastered getting runs out of tricky pitches this season. Their batting on Friday also managed to put up a respectable 224 for 6, which was enough for the bowlers to defend.
Gujarat thus managed to allow only 22 dot balls in 20 overs, keeping their scoreboard active. Gill insisted that it was not something they had planned; they simply showed up to play. He also pointed out how while they don’t speak of needing one of the top three to bat till the end, they all care about doing their best.
Buttler, who scored 64 off 37, downplayed his own performance in favor of Sudharsan, whose 48 came off 23. Buttler stated that he had been impressed by Sudharsan right from the first over and spoke about his great mindset.
The next match for Gujarat Titans is against the Mumbai Indians, on May 6, back at home.
