Gujarat Titans director of cricket Vikram Solanki is not at all happy with his team’s performance against the Punjab Kings. Solanki feels that the team’s performance was not acceptable and they should have defended 200.
The Gujarat Titans were in a formidable position in the match after scoring 199/4 on the brink of Shubman Gill’s innings, who top scored with 89*.
With 50 needed of 27 deliveries, the Punjab Kings, out of nowhere, found two new heroes in the form of Sashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, who scored the runs at a brisk pace and stole victory from the jaws of defeat.
Speaking about his team’s performance, Solanki feels that they were quite brilliant in the field, but a couple of catch-drops cost them the match in the end.
Solanki said, “The other team is here to play as well. The other teams are here to compete as well. We probably should have defended 200. We were in a good position. We probably let ourselves down in certain aspects of the game. We fielded very well in parts. I thought the ground fielding was outstanding, but we put some chances down. But you’re right, we should have defended it.”
Gujarat Titans will now be facing Lucknow Super Giants on April 7 in Lucknow, while Punjab Kings will play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9.
