Australian and Delhi Capitals opener David Warner was all praise for his teammate Rishabh Pant for making a stealer comeback in the cricketing world with some extraordinary batting performances in the IPL. Warner penned an emotional note for the fans for their constant support of the franchise throughout their IPL campaign.
David Warner was also all praise for Rishabh Pant for making a phenomenal comeback in the IPL; however, in spite of Pant returning in action, the Delhi Capitals failed to make their way into the top 4 and finished 6th in the points table.
David Warner took to social media to post photos of his IPL journey in the 2024 campaign. The Southpaw will feature one final time in an Australian jersey in the upcoming T-20 World Cup.
David Warner wrote, “Upon the conclusion of the IPL, I will post a message of gratitude. Congratulations to KKR on their victory this season. exceedingly meritorious and remarkably steady. We appreciate your unwavering support and encouragement, DC. Toli, and we say thank you. This year wasn’t ours, but we still gave it our best shot. Our young lads put on some really amazing performances, which were really enjoyable to watch. Rishabh Pant’s return to the game following his injury was also quite encouraging. It was incredible to see his recovery and how dedicated he was to the game. Until we meet again.”
Warner, an IPL veteran himself, sustained a thumb injury in the middle of the season, missing a few games for DC. In eight IPL 2024 matches, Warner could only muster 168 runs at a 134 strike rate. The young Australian batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk, took his place, and his thunderous hitting helped him win the event.
Despite Pant’s recuperation from a vehicle accident in December 2022, Warner, who has consistently demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, praised Pant’s resolve. Warner led DC throughout the previous season due to Pant’s absence, and they placed last in the IPL 2023 standings. With three fifties among his 446 runs in 13 matches, Pant concluded as DC’s top run scorer, capping an incredible comeback to competitive cricket.
