Gautam Gambhir Quits BJP, Reveals This Reason Behind It

Former Indian opener and one of the legends of the game, Gautam Gambhir has chosen to step away from politics to concentrate on his forthcoming cricket commitments. This decision was delivered by Gambhir through a post on social media on Saturday.

While posting on his official Twitter(X) handle, Gambhir said, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble HM Amit Shah ji for allowing me to serve the people. Jai Hind!”

This year during the IPL mini-auction, Gautam Gambhir surprised everyone and he joined his old team Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor, leaving the duties of Lucknow Super Giants after being associated for two years.

Gautam Gambhir had been part of the Kolkata-based franchise from 2011 to 2017, which is widely regarded as the golden period for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Serving as the captain during this tenure, Gambhir led the team to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) twice. Under his leadership, KKR qualified for the playoffs five times and reached the finals of the Champions League T20 in 2014.
