In a video shared on the BCCI website, Gambhir acknowledged Nair’s impressive comeback, saying, Comebacks are tough, and someone who returns after seven years has shown remarkable determination. Your past year speaks volumes, and that resilience is inspiring for everyone. Nair earned his spot after a standout domestic season, scoring 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy with an average of 53.93, including four centuries. He also shone in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and did well in warm-up matches for India A against England Lions.
Gambhir also praised Sai Sudharsan, who was a star for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, winning the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs. He has made 1,957 runs in 29 first-class matches, with a solid average. Gambhir welcomed pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has been impressive in white-ball cricket, noting his top performance in T20Is.
Gambhir urged the team to view this tour not just as a time of missing senior players but as a chance to step up and do something great for the country. Gill chimed in, encouraging players to be purposeful in their practice, emphasizing the importance of preparing under pressure.
The series runs from June to August 2025, with matches in cities like Leeds, Birmingham, London, and Manchester.
