Former Indian star Siddarth Kaul registers himself for BBL

Former India cricketer Siddarth Kaul has signed up for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) draft. At 35, he has played three ODIs and three T20Is, though he hasn’t taken any wickets in ODIs while grabbing four in T20 cricket. He’s played for teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals in the IPL, taking 58 wickets in 55 matches with an economy rate of 8.63. Kaul last played for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy and announced his retirement from Indian cricket in October 2023. After that, he participated in several legends league tournaments before joining the BBL draft.

Over 600 cricketers have registered for the BBL draft, including 178 from England, 74 from Pakistan, 42 from the West Indies, and 13 from Sri Lanka. Legendary player James Anderson is also in the mix. Other notable names include Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, Jofra Archer, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee, and Kane Williamson. Pakistan’s Babar Azam has already signed with the Sydney Sixers.

On the women’s side, several Indian cricketers have registered for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) draft, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Kanika Ahuja, and Yastika Bhatia. The WBBL draft has also attracted international attention, with 46 players from England, 15 each from India and New Zealand, and 11 from Pakistan signing up. Some foreign players in the WBBL draft include Lauren Bell, Sophie Ecclestone, Heather Knight, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Sophia Dunkley, Tammy Beaumont, Sarah Glenn, Shabnim Ismail, and Chloe Tryon.

Both drafts are set to happen on June 19.
