Former Indian spinner drops a massive praise for Noor Ahmed

Former Indian spinner Sarandeep Singh believes that Noor Ahmad could be the key player for Afghanistan’s spin attack in the future. Noor made his debut for Afghanistan in 2022 and has played 13 ODIs and 14 T20Is so far. In the IPL, where he’s just 20 years old, Noor has claimed 36 wickets in 30 matches with an average economy of 7.83. His recent performances in IPL 2025 with the Chennai Super Kings have really stood out. Right now, he’s holding the Purple Cap, having taken 12 wickets in seven games at an economy of 7.12. In his first match against the Mumbai Indians, he grabbed four wickets for only 18 runs and has been on fire ever since.

“Noor is a well-rounded player. He can flight the ball, spin it both ways, and trick batters in the air. He’s more than just a backup now; he has what it takes to lead Afghanistan’s spin attack,” Sarandeep told PTI.

He also discussed Rashid Khan’s recent struggle with the Gujarat Titans in the IPL. In six matches, Rashid has only managed to take four wickets with an economy of 9.77. Sarandeep mentioned that batters have learned to read his googlies. “The problem for Rashid over the last couple of seasons is that batters have figured him out. There’s no surprise anymore—it’s mostly googlies at the same speed,” he said.

Currently, the Titans are leading the table with eight points and a net run rate of +1.081, while the Super Kings are at the bottom, despite winning their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets.
