India’s premium bowler, Jasprit Bumrah’s return has become a mystery for all the fans. He has been out of the field since September 2022, and as per the report, he will undergo back surgery in the upcoming days. Due to this, he will not play in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League and the World Test Championship 2021-23 (If the Indian team makes the place). And hopefully, he will miss the upcoming prestigious tournament like Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
Bumrah was under the guidance of the National Cricket Academy medical staff in Bangalore. And he was expected to be on the field till now, but his injury looks serious, and he will go to New Zealand for back surgery. This is a major setback for the Indian team because their premier bowler is out of action and will not make it till the end of the year.
Observing this issue, former Indian cricketer Madan Lal was part of the 1983 world cup winning team. Madan Lal said that we must put aside our expectations, and he picked Umesh Yadav as the bowler who will be a good choice in England for the WTC final.
“They will take Umesh to the WTC final. You need at least three pacers there, so only one spinner might play, and the rest will be fast bowlers. Bumrah ko ab bhool jao. Usko Chhor dijiye aap (Forget Bumrah. Leave him out of the equation). When Bumrah returns, we will see then. What is the guarantee? No wonder when he will return – maybe in 1 to 1.5 years. He has not played in so long. It means his injury is very serious,” former Indian cricketer Madan Lal said this on talking to a Sports tak.
Further talking on this, Madan Lal stated that he has been out of action from six months, and when he returns to the ground, there is no guarantee of it. If you want to see him back, you have to give time to him for proper recovery.
“At max, an injury takes 3 months to heal, and he hasn’t played since September – even Hardik Pandya was able to return in 4 months post his back surgery – and Bumrah hasn’t played since 6 months. So, how can you expect this will be the same Bumrah we have seen so far? It will take him time. If you want to see the same Bumrah, you must give him time,” Lal added.
According to the reports, Bumrah will go to New Zealand for back surgery, and he will miss all of this year’s upcoming events.
