Team India is getting ready to face England in a five-match Test series starting June 20. Both teams are eager to kick off the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2025-27 on a high note. There are some players on both sides who could really make a difference in this series.
Former England bowler James Anderson has pointed out one player to watch: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. At just 21, Anderson is impressed with how mature Jaiswal looked during the 2024 Test series in India. He mentioned Jaiswal’s talent, saying he has a lot of shots in his arsenal but showed great judgment in how he played and built his innings. Anderson believes Jaiswal will be a big asset for India in the future.
The first Test will take place at Headingley in Leeds, marking the start of this new WTC cycle. Both teams are looking to perform their best in this opening match.
Also worth noting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Shubman Gill as the new Test captain, stepping in after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket prior to this series.
