Former Carabian legend Brain Lara feels that Suryakumar Yadav should bat at number three for Team India in the upcoming T-20 World Cup.
Lara feels that if Surya bats at number three, this will be the best-suited position for him, as Team India can utilize Surya Kumar Yadav to his full potential.
Lara feels that Suryakumar Yadav can win matches for India single-handedly if he gets the opportunity to bat at least 10–15 overs.
In his interaction with PTI Brian Lara, he said, “My one advice, and I don’t know if you’re going to like it or not, but Sky has to bat at three. He just has to bat at three. He is one of the greatest T20 players in the game. And you speak to players like Sir Viv (Vivian Richards), and he will tell you he used to want to get out there in the middle.”
And I feel that that’s the same thing with SKY. So, get in on it as quickly as possible. He is not an opener; get him out there, and if he can bat for 10–15 overs, you know what is going to happen.”
Lara feels that Suryakumar Yadav should bat at number three for India no matter what; however, team India has been using Virat Kohli at number three over the years, who has been one of the biggest match winners of India at number three.
It will be interesting to see whether Virat Kohli opens for India or bats at number three in the upcoming T-20 World Cup.
