Exploring the Fallout: Jay Shah’s Response to Ponting and Langer’s Rejection

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has rubbished all the claims made by Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer about their reasons for becoming India’s next head coach. Jay Shah made it clear that BCCI has not approached any Australians for the role of team India’s head coach.
Jay Shah also gave insights that an Indian player could be team India’s next head coach, as Jay Shah was quoted. Saying, “The next coach should have a “deep understanding” of the game’s structure in the country.”

While current team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has made it crystal clear that he is not interested in continuing as team India’s head coach for the upcoming cycle,. 
In his statement, Jay Shah said, “I have not extended a coaching offer to any former Australian cricket player, nor has the BCCI. The information being spread in some media outlets is entirely false.”
Both Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer have recently been part of the coaching set-up of the Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals, respectively. Apart from the duo, Gautam Gambhir, who is currently associated with KKR as a mentor, is also in line to become Team India’s next head coach.
Speaking about the coach, Jay Shah said, “Selecting the ideal coach for our national team is an exacting and comprehensive procedure. Our goal is to find people who have advanced through the ranks and have a thorough understanding of the Indian cricket system.”
The BCCI secretary has made it clear that the coach should be well aware of how cricket (both international and domestic) functions in India to take the team’s performance to the next level.
