World Cricket fans will get another huge gala at this year’s end when the ICC ODI World Cup will knock on the door in India. The prestigious tournament will be played in the month of October-November and the schedule of the tournament has already started. The first clash will happen between New Zealand and England who were the finalists in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
While speaking to a sports platform, former England captain Eoin Morgan has predicted those four teams who could clinch the title of the upcoming ODI World Cup. In a conversation with WION, Morgan who guided England to their inaugural ODI World Cup victory in 2019 picked India as well as England, Australia and Pakistan as the primary contenders.
“When it comes to the business end of the tournament, I have no doubt England will be there, and I have no doubt India will be there. And the other teams I would probably see potentially lifting the trophy are Australia and Pakistan, two very strong teams and two contenders when it comes to big competitions,” the 36-year-old told WION.
He also marked team India as the most eligible contender and also explained the reason behind it. He said,”India is an excellent cricket team and will be favourites going into the 2023 World Cup. Home advantage is a keen thing. My advice for them would be to engage with the people that were there (in 2011) and probably pick their brains. It’s going to be a hell of a tournament. I am looking forward to it, hoping I don’t have too much luck.”
Talking about the tournament, India will have its first clash against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. However, there are some changes in the schedule of the tournament and very soon the management will come with the revised schedule.
