England’s fast bowler Josh Tongue made it clear that the team is aiming for a win on Day 5 of the first Test against India. By the end of Day 4, England was at 21/0, needing 350 runs to clinch the match. The pitch has favored batsmen so far, so England feels they have a good shot at chasing down the target. Tongue mentioned that accepting a draw hasn’t even come up in the dressing room. He emphasized the team’s positive mindset, noting that given India’s batting lineup, victory is definitely possible.
Tongue said, “We’re just going for the win. That’s the message in the locker room. We’ll stay positive and handle the pressure. I believe we can go after that target.” He also added that their batting lineup is strong, making him confident for tomorrow’s chase.
On the other side, Rishabh Pant made history by becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper to score centuries in both innings of a Test match. This milestone happened on Day 4 at Headingley, where Pant scored his second hundred of the match in just 130 balls after making 134 in the first innings. His performance has helped India gain a solid lead. Pant is now among just 10 Indian cricketers, including legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli, to score centuries in both innings of a Test. Remarkably, he is also the second wicketkeeper ever, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower, to achieve this in Test cricket.
