“Do parties after you retire…”Wasim Akram’s Impactful Message to Under-Fire India Star

One of the brightest prospects of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has failed to live up to expectations yet again in the ongoing season of the IPL. Often compared with the great Sachin Tendulkar and Brain Lara Prithvi, Shaw has now failed to break into Delhi’s playing 11. More than cricket, Shaw’s name comes up in headlines for his off-the-field activities and controversies.

This has now forced Pakistan’s greatest pace sensation, Wasim Akram, to issue a strict warning to the young Indian star.

In his interaction with Sportskeeda, Wasim Akram said, “I haven’t kept a close eye on him this year, but he needs to get back to his roots, play premier cricket, and get lots of runs. Put cricket first, not parties.”

Shaw is just 24 years old and has plenty of cricket left in him. He is one of the few batters who has a hundred on his debut in test cricket. However, off late, Shaw has to face multiple discipline issues that have a negative impact on his cricket career.

Speaking about the same, Akram said, “Just return to playing first-class cricket; he still has a lot left in him. Get several centuries and stage a successful return. That is the only route. There isn’t a short cut. It is advantageous for him that he has time on his hands.”

Akram further urged the young batter and said, “He needs to practice consistently and take stock of himself off the field. After you retire, throw in as many parties as you like—it won’t matter. So now, concentrate on cricket.”
