Dinesh Karthik picks this job for Rishabh Pant after retirement

Dinesh Karthik, the former India wicketkeeper-batter, thinks Rishabh Pant has what it takes to be a commentator after his playing days are over. Karthik pointed to Pant’s antics on the stump mic during the 1st Test against England in Leeds. Pant thrilled fans with his aggressive batting, scoring centuries in both innings. He’s always entertaining on the field, and his humor on the stump mic was a highlight.

Karthik joked that Pant is basically an unofficial commentator already, predicting that he could take over their jobs one day. Viru paaji (Virender Sehwag) used to sing while batting, but Pant is like a commentator himself. He loves it out there and often explains what he’s doing to his batting partner, who might be wondering, ‘What’s going on?’ He’s just making sure everything’s fine.”

He also mentioned that Pant could easily join the Indian team as a pure batter. At first, he was taking more risks than he needed to and talking to himself a lot. Then he calmed down and showed a different side of himself. He can fit into this team no problem, Karthik said.

As for the match, India is struggling with England chasing a 371-run target. Resuming at 21/0 on Tuesday morning, England built a solid foundation, going into lunch at 117 without losing any wickets, needing just 254 more runs for the win and a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series. Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett played steadily against the Indian bowlers.
