On Monday, August 5, the SA20 announced that Dinesh Karthik will become the new league ambassador. Karthik will team up with his ex-RCB colleague AB de Villiers as one of the league’s ambassadors, as the league continues to expand.
Karthik retired from playing after the IPL 2024 and later joined RCB as a batting coach for the IPL 2025. He has also been working as a commentator and will now expand his role with the SA20. In a statement, the league highlighted that Karthik’s extensive knowledge of cricket is a great addition and that he will collaborate closely with De Villiers and the league’s management to boost its international fan following.
“Betway SA20, the leading T20 tournament in South Africa, is thrilled to announce Dinesh Karthik as its new ambassador.”
“Karthik brings a wealth of experience to the League, having won a World Cup and played for the Indian national team. This is a significant boost for the competition, which is rapidly becoming one of the best franchise leagues globally.”
“According to the announcement, Karthik will collaborate closely with fellow ambassador AB de Villiers and the League’s management to expand its international fan following and enhance its brand presence in important markets like India and the UK.”
Karthik expressed his excitement about becoming an ambassador for the league and mentioned his eagerness to collaborate with the league commissioner, Graeme Smith, and his team.
“I’m really excited to become an ambassador for the Betway SA20,” Karthik stated. “The league has been very exciting in its first two seasons, featuring some of the best players in the world and showcasing promising young talent on a global platform. It’s an honor to be part of the Betway SA20, and I’m looking forward to working with Graeme and his team.”
The SA20 league’s 2025 season is scheduled to run from January 9th to February 8th.
