Dinesh Karthik blames pitch for RCB’s second loss at home

The battle between IPL franchises and the pitch curator has landed at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. After a 6-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, Dinesh Karthik, the mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), called out the curator for not delivering the kind of pitch they needed. In the post-match presser on Thursday, he mentioned that they specifically asked for a good pitch to support the batters for their first two games, but that didn’t happen.

Karthik pointed out that the pitch turned out to be tricky and not what they expected. He remarked, T20 cricket thrives on runs; the more, the better for broadcasters and fans. Everyone enjoys watching boundaries. He continued, “We wanted solid pitches, but so far, it’s been tough to bat on.

He noted that the pitch has been challenging in both of their home games and that it’s not beneficial for the batters. Karthik plans to have a talk with the curator about making better pitches in the future. He talked about how it’s been hard for players to rotate strike and hit big shots, saying they’ve had to control their urge to go for big hits since it has led to some early wickets. In the end, he said, We trust the curator to do his job, and we’ll focus on doing our best.
