“Different rules??…”Ex India Star Firey Response On The Players Missing Domestic cricket

Team India is currently playing against England in a five-match test series.

However, the Indian cricket board is also facing certain changes, as most of the players who are not part of international matches are avoiding domestic cricket for the T20 leagues.

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it quite clear that every centrally contracted player needs to play red ball cricket for their state if they are not part of the national team.
Jay Shah also stated that this applies to each and every player; otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given him suggestions, and he is going to give them free hand and take their calls regarding the players.

This statement from BCCI came after team India’s young wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan did not make himself available for selection in domestic cricket for his state team in Jharkhand, in spite of team India’s head coach saying that he needs to play some cricket before making him eligible for selection in international cricket.

Apart from Ishan Kishan, Mumbai’s middle-order batsman, Shreyas Iyer, also made himself unavailable for selection for Mumbai’s quarterfinal game against Baroda, citing back pain.
However, as per the report given by NCA head Nitin Patel Shreyas, Iyer was completely fit and had no injuries as such.

“Shreyas Iyer was fit and available for selection as per the handover report of the Indian team after the 2nd Test match against England. There are currently no fresh injuries reported as well after his departure from Team India,” Patel wrote in his email, according to the report.

Now regarding the same matter, India’s ace all-rounder, Irfan Pathan, took to his Twitter account and said, “Is there a different rule for different players for not playing Indian first-class cricket in the name of looking after the body?”

It will be interesting to see what action BCCI will take against the players who are prioritizing leagues over domestic cricket.
