Deepak Chahar Reveals Career Changing Advice By MS Dhoni, Says – ‘He Is The NO.1 Captain’

Indian marvellous swing bowler Deepak Chahar is all set for his comeback from the ODI series against Zimbabwe. Under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan team India will fly to Zimbabwe for a 3-match ODI series, for the same Deepak Chahar has been picked into the squad.

While returning to professional cricket after almost 6 months, Deepak Chahar credited MS Dhoni for his continuous good performance and growth in his cricketing career. Deepak Chahar said that talking to the captain cool always fills with confidence and it gives a sheer energy to do well.

Speaking to IANS, Chahar said,”Mahi bhai has given me a lot of advice. The best advice was to believe in myself. When I first played for CSK, the amount of confidence he gave me reflected in my performance. He’s the number one captain. If he believes in you, you have to believe in yourself. The belief I got from playing for CSK was massive. That changed my career. The belief and confidence Mahi bhai gave me was the best.”

Deepak Chahar played his last match in february 2002, against the West Indies. During the series he suffered a quadriceps injury. After this Chahar also missed the whole season of IPL 2022 for his franchise Chennai Super Kings. Let us tell you that before the IPL 2022, Chahar got a huge amount of Rupees 14 crore in the mega auction. However, Chahar did not let go of the hope of a comeback before the squad announcement for the T20 world cup and he gave all his heart at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore.

Chahar said that it was not easy for him to make a comeback after that serious injury but he aimed to play T20 world cup 2022 and as a result he raised to make a great entry into the team.

The graph will go up and down. For me, it went down for many years but still I worked hard day and night. I always thought there is no alternative to hard work. If you work hard, the day and time will come and you’ll play well. You’ll get what you deserve,” he quoted.

“When you are small, it is important for you to imagine yourself as an international cricketer. You see posters on the wall. You should see your face in those pictures and that should make you work hard every session. You should see yourself there.”

“My advice to every young bowler is to work hard. There is no alternative. Hard work is the key. Sometimes you get selected, sometimes you won’t. Sometimes they (other players) are better than you. The only way to beat them is by hard work. Nobody can help you. No coach or parent, nothing. When you enter the ground, only you can help yourself. We all dream of becoming Indian cricketers.”

“You don’t want to just play for the state. If you’re not thinking about playing for India, you should not play cricket. If you want to play for the Indian team, it will take many years. You can’t play for India in two or four years,” added Chahar.

Asia cup will start from 27th August and Deepak Chahar is likely to make his place into the squad. If selectors pick him up for the Asia Cup, it will open a way for this pacer to find a way for T20 World Cup.
