David Willey Ruled Out Of IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants Announces Replacement

David Willey, the English all-rounder who was supposed to play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024, has decided not to participate in the tournament due to personal reasons.

As per the reports, Willey was initially expected to join LSG after missing the first few matches, but he is now unavailable for the entire season. The franchise had acquired him for Rs 2 crore at the mini-auction, right before the IPL 2024.

After the departure of Willey from the team, LSG has announced a replacement for New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry. He has been signed at his base price of Rs 1.25 crore, making this his third IPL franchise after Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings.

Henry has only played in two IPL matches so far, both for PBKS, and he took one wicket during the 2017 season.

The 32-year-old has played for New Zealand in 25 Test matches, 82 ODIs, and 17 T20Is to date. He has taken 95 wickets in Tests, 141 wickets in ODIs, and 20 wickets in T20Is.

This season Lucknow Super Giants has played one match against Rajasthan Royals where the team lost the game by 20 runs and right now they are at the 10th position in the IPL 2024 points table.
