Former South African legend Dale Steyn wants Ms. Dhoni to keep playing in the IPL. Dhoni had been in splendid form in this year’s IPL and has been hitting well at the moment.
Dale Steyn said that watching Ms. Dhoni come out to bat lifts his mood.
Dhoni continues to pull off the crowd in this year’s IPL as he has turned the clock back in time, hitting sixes almost every time he comes out to bat.
Dhoni has decided to bat in the lower order as the franchise is going through a transition phase under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, so Dhoni wants the younger players to get more opportunities.
However, Dale Steyn wants Dhoni to keep playing in the IPL, as there are speculations that this might be Dhoni’s last season in the IPL.
In his interaction with Star Sports, Dale Steyn said, “Not only has it engulfed the IPL, That’s engulfed many South Africans and myself. To be honest with you, I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I seem to be glued to the seat when the IPL is on. My girlfriend says that my TV is broken; it’s stuck on cricket right now, the IPL and watching MS the other night. That’s exactly what we want to do. You know, I’ve been on the receiving end of it before. I’ve watched it from a fan’s point of view, and I loved it. I mean, I’m in a much better mood because of what I’ve just seen. So can we get more of MS Dhoni out in the middle? That would be great.”
One of the biggest struggles for Dhoni is battling with his knee. The star batter has been seen limping on multiple occasions but has batted and kept the wickets for the sake of the franchise.
