CSK vs LSG, IPL 2024: Huge Record For Ruturaj Gaikwad, Becomes 1st CSK Skipper To Smash IPL Hundred

In the 39th match of the IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are facing each other. CSK came to bat first after losing the toss and posted a total of 210 runs at the loss of four wickets.

For Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad made history by becoming the first CSK captain to score a century in the IPL. He achieved this milestone against LSG by scoring 108* runs in 60 balls which includes 12 fours and three sixes.

Ruturaj took all the responsibility as skipper and kept the momentum going for the team. He had been aiming for a big score this season, and finally achieved it in front of the enthusiastic crowd at Chepauk.

CSK faced an early setback when Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed early, but Daryl Mitchell, who replaced Rachin Ravindra, joined Ruturaj in the middle. The pair added 45 runs for the second wicket before Mitchell was out to Yash Thakur. Ruturaj then formed a partnership with Ravindra Jadeja.

As the innings went ahead, Ruturaj took it upon himself to accelerate the scoring, reaching his fifty off 28 balls. After reaching this milestone, he played smartly and managed to find boundaries in the death overs.

Ruturaj also surpassed Faf du Plessis’ record for the most fifty as CSK batter. Plessis has 16 fifty-plus scores while Gaikwad has 17 to his name.
