The captain of Gujarat Titansn Shubman Gill has incurred a fine due to his team’s sluggish over-rate in the IPL 2024 match versus Chennai Super Kings, held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, March 26th.
Gujarat Titans got their first loss of the season, falling to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Chennai Super Kings. Despite chasing a target of 207, the visiting team could only manage 143/8 in the 20 overs and they were purely dominated by the formidable pace attack of Chennai Super Kings.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Premier League (IPL) on its website, Shubman Gill has been deemed responsible for violating the IPL’s Code of Conduct due to his team’s slow over-rate. After that, he has been fined INR 12 lakh.
“Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 26,” IPL said in a statement
“As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over rate offenses, Gill was fined ₹12 lacks.” the statement added.
