Indian team once again showed a disappointing performance in the second ODI match against Bangladesh in the three-match ODIs series in Mirpur Dhaka. Now, Bangladesh leads the three-match ODIs series by 2-0. The star-studded Indian side collapsed in front of the Bangladeshi bowling attack and crashed like a fighter jet in the sky without any evidence.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss, and once again, veteran all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a master-class knock and hit a ton on 96 balls, and along with him, his teammate Mahmudullah scored 77 runs off 83 balls, helping his side to set the total of 271 on the board. In the chase, the visitor’s batting lineup collapsed and only managed to score 266 runs in 50 overs and lost the battle by five runs. However, Shreyas Iyer smashed 82 runs off 102, and Axar scored 56 runs off 56, and the skipper, who walked at no.9 with a taped thumb, played a terrific knock of 51* runs 28, but that wasn’t enough to chase down the total.
Other Indian batters like Shikhar Dhawan (8), run machine Virat (5), Washington Sundar (11), and KL Rahul (14) showed poor performances and disappointed all Indian fans and cricket experts. After the match, some former Indian cricketers were disappointed and criticized the Indian batting approach and suggested BCCI to make some changes in the Indian Squad.
Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad wrote on Twitter, “India is innovating in so many fields across the world. But when it comes to playing limited-overs cricket, our approach is a decade old. England after the 2015 WC first-round exit took tough calls and turned around to become such an exciting team; India needs to take tough calls.”
“And change approach drastically. We haven’t won a T20 WC since the IPL started & last 5 years have been poor in ODIs apart from winning inconsequential bilateral. Haven’t learned from our mistakes for too long and are far from being an exciting team in limited-overs cricket. CHANGE,” he added in the second tweet.
After him, former destructive opener batter Virendra Sehwag also mocked the Indian cricket team and wrote, “Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar. Need to shake up – wake up.”
This type of show wasn’t acceptable from the star-studded side like India. They have the best batting lineup in the world, some young all-rounders, and a futuristic pace battery that will represent the Indian side in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, and even you have the best coaching staff on the bench.
