Cricket Conundrum: India’s Selection Dilemma

Team India is all set to take on England in Ranchi for the fourth clash of the ongoing five-match test series in Ranchi.

However, going into this match is not going to be easy for Team India, as India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for this match to manage his workload.
Team India has a phenomenal record at home, as the hosts have won 38 out of 47 matches since 2012, losing only four (two each vs. Australia and England).

Team India also needs to find answers to their number four puzzle, as both Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar have had their chances to bat at number four in the series and both have been out of touch.

Team India also needs to find the ideal replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, as he was the leading wicket-taker of the series by picking up 17 wickets in three test matches. He was one of the major reasons for India winning the Rajkot Test by 106 runs, as the pacer picked up nine wickets across two innings.

Team India will have a dilemma to choose from: Mukesh Kumar and Akashdeep. It will be interesting to see whether Aakashdeep will make his debut for India or whether Mukesh Kumar will be given another chance in the series.

Mukesh recently picked up 10 wickets in the Ranji Trophy game; however, he has not been able to replicate his domestic performances in international cricket.

As per the spin department, the trio of Ashwin Jadeja and Kuldeep are going to continue in this series, so it is unlikely that Axar Patel will be given a chance in the playing 11.

Squads: India: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
