Coach Ricky Ponting’s Update: David Warner’s Fitness for DC vs SRH Revealed

Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting said that he is hoping David Warner will be fully fit for Delhi’s upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
David Warner suffered an injury to his left hand, because of which he had to miss Delhi’s last clash against the Gujarat Titans.

However, Ricky Ponting has provided a massive update ahead of Delhi’s clash against SRH, which is set to be played in Delhi.

Ahead of Delhi’s next match, Ricky Ponting said that Warner is 85–90% fit but has to do a lot of batting against pacers to see if there’s any pain in his hand.

Ricky Ponting said, “He was 85 or 90 percent fit a couple of days ago. We’d expect that there’d be a little bit more improvement from him today. But he’ll have to do a lot of batting today against fast bowling to make sure that the pain he had last week is gone. So, hopefully, he’s fit and ready.”

Ricky Ponting also spoke about Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have gone on to register two of the highest scores in this year’s IPL season against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangaluru. Ponting believes that Delhi’s batting is as strong as Sunrisers Hyderabad and wouldn’t mind if this match turned out to be a high-scoring clash.

Ricky Ponting said, “We don’t mind having a shootout tomorrow; if it’s a high-scoring game, so be it.”

“We know and expect that they’re going to play the way they’ve played so far in the tournament, which has been going hard at the top of the order with the bat and trying to post a big first-inning total. So, we’re happy to try and match them in that. We think we’ve got as good a batting lineup, if not better, than theirs.”
