English fast bowler Chris Jordan made history for England by becoming the first player from his country to achieve a hat trick in T20 international matches. Born in America, Jordan managed this unique accomplishment during England’s game against the USA at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Jordan got four outs in the 19th over of the first round when he got Corey Anderson, Ali Khan, Nosthush Kenjige, and Saurabh Netravalkar out. He is now the second bowler to get four outs in a T20 World Cup, after Curtis Campher, who did it against the Netherlands in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
At the end of the 18th over, the American team had scored 115 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Jordan came to bowl his last over of the day. He got a wicket with his very first ball, dismissing Anderson who hit a low full-toss to long-on. Ali Khan faced the second ball safely but was bowled on the third ball.
Nosthush Kenjige faced the fourth ball and was given out LBW because he didn’t connect with the flick. The USA team asked for a review of the umpire’s decision, but the ball was clearly hitting the stumps. Netravalkar then came up to bat against the hat trick ball and was bowled out on the very first delivery, as Jordan achieved his hat trick.
