The Board of Cricket Control Of India (BCCI) is set to host the Women’s IPL from March 2023, and BCCI will try its best to make this Women’s IPL hit as the Men’s IPL.
As per the sources, five teams will participate in the first season and the base price of each franchise is set to Rs 400 crores. Each team can pick 5 overseas players in the playing XI.
There will be 20 matches played in this tournament, in which teams will clash with each other twice, and the table topper will directly enter the finals while the other finalist will be decided from the encounter of second and third-position teams.
Previously, BCCI had announced equal match fees for men’s and women’s cricketers and now the announcement of the Women’s IPL will give a louder growth to women’s cricket in India.
However, in other countries like Australia, they have Big Bash league for women since 2016 and in England, they have The Hundred for the women’s players.
