‘Celebrated India’s Win In The Delhi Test’, 1983 World Cup Hero Gathers At Kapil Dev’s Home In Delhi

On Day 3 of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Delhi on Sunday, the Indian cricket team defeated Australia by 6 wickets. While the winning team enjoyed its victory in its own unique style, cricketing greats Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Madan Lal, and Kirti Azad visited Kapil Dev’s home in Delhi.

Sunil Gavaskar shared a photograph on his official Twitter handle and said, “Wonderful to catch up with the Delhi boys of the ‘83 World Cup team at skipper Kapil’s home. Celebrated India’s win in the Delhi Test. Great dinner, great conversations, and a great evening.”

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri also shared this memorable time on his official Twitter handle where he said, “Enjoying a great evening at the Captain’s home in the capital with my colleagues of 83 after India’s sweeping success.”

Sunil Gavaskar, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Syed Kirmani (wk), Yashpal Sharma, Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Sandeep Patil, Kris Srikkanth, and Balwinder Sandhu were all members of the Kapil Dev-led team that defeated the West Indies in the 1983 world cup final.

The Indian national cricket team, led by Kapil Dev, overcame all odds on June 25, 1983, to win their first World Cup trophy.
