“Catch the next flight…”Why Did India Deliver A Brutal Verdict On England In ‘Bazball’?

Ben Stokes and his team decided to play an attacking brand of cricket in the test series against India. England started the series with a bang, defeating the hosts by 28 runs in Hyderabad.

However, in the next two test matches, England’s Bazball approach completely backfired, and they were defeated in the next two matches of the series by 106 and 434 runs, respectively.

After England’s defeat in the Rajkot Test, Ben Stokes and his team have faced serve criticism regarding their approach in the series. Many of the greats of the game criticized Ben Stokes and his company for their Bazball approach.

Out of many, one of them is former team India’s opener, Kris Shrikanth, who gave a brutal verdict on Bazball, saying that England will not be able to make a comeback in this ongoing series.

When Srikanth was asked about England’s fightback in the series, he said, “If possible, they can take the next flight home,” but they have to play the remaining two test matches of the series.

Srikanth also said that the Bazball theory is just propogated, saying that it has mostly backfired on England and that it even did not work for them in the Ashes series as well.

Srikanth also said that he feels that Bazball will not work for England in the long run because not everyone can hit shots from the first ball itself.

On the other hand, England’s coach, Brendon McCullum, has made it clear that he has no regrets about losing the match because of the approach of the team but will continue to play an aggressive style of cricket throughout the series.
Both teams will clash against each other in Ranchi on February 23, with India leading the series by 2-1.
