The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is currently underway, and Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid anticipates that after they play Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 5, the excitement surrounding the competition will intensify.
“Indeed, there is a noticeable difference. Its arrival in a new nation and location is undoubtedly thrilling. Considering that cricket isn’t one of the main sports in this nation, (it) feels a little different from what people usually associate with these events. So you’re not experiencing that same level of excitement here. Nevertheless, ideally, you’ll see that same kind of energy once our games begin and a lot of Indian supporters start attending,” Dravid was cited by Cricbuzz.
Dravid mentioned that though India are new to the conditions and are in unfamiliar territory, it hasn’t influenced their preparation.
“Therefore, looking at it that way, things are undoubtedly different. However, in terms of our professionalism, level of preparation, and desired outcomes, I don’t believe that has altered. We are still trying to approach things in the same manner. It’s very much like what we would typically do,” he continued.
Dravid seems cheerful and joked about training in Eisenhower Park for a competition as large as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
“It’s a bit strange to be practicing in a park. Obviously at the World Cups you’d be in big stadiums or you’d be at cricket stadiums traditionally. But you know, we’re at a public park and practicing,” he mentioned
